Wedding Planning Ideas to Help You Plan the Perfect Wedding

Not sure where to start with your wedding planning? Follow these simple wedding planning ideas and tips to help you plan your perfect wedding.

You just got engaged and excited about planning your wedding. But you're overwhelmed with all the things you need to do to prepare for that big day. With so many details involved, it can become overwhelming.

Don't stress! Just take your time and follow these simple and basic wedding planning ideas and tips to get you started.

Brainstorm Wedding Ideas

Sit down with your fiance for an hour or two and brainstorm about different wedding ideas. Make it a date. Start off with a light dinner. During or after dinner, start writing down everything that comes to mind about what type of wedding the both of you want.

Big, small, simple or formal wedding? Where you want to get married, beach, church, parents' or a friend's backyard? Keep an open mind and just have fun writing down your ideas.

Buy a Wedding Planning Organizer and organize a "Wedding To Do List"

After you have all your ideas down, start jotting down all the things you need to do in planning your wedding. Don't research anything yet. By creating your to do list, it'll help you prioritize what is most important.

Create the Wedding Guest List

People start off with a wedding budget. You should start off first with creating your wedding guest list. Completing this task first will give you an overall idea of how much you plan on spending on your wedding. Make an A and B list. A list for Must Invite and B list for Tentative Invite.

Determine Your Wedding Budget

There are many wedding planning books and websites that will provide a free detail budgeting category chart. The chart will provide a list of all the items needed in helping you plan your wedding: flowers, accommodations, wedding party gifts, bridal dress, tuxedo rental, and so forth. The chart will also help you remember items you might have forgotten.

Or if you had already starting jotting down your ideas from your "Wedding To Do List", then you should have some categories already in hand. Create 3 columns:
1) Item Description
2) Budget Cost
3) Vendor Cost

For each item, estimate how much you plan on spending. Once you're done, then call around and get some quotes from vendors and write it down in the vendor cost.

Choose Date and Time

Some couples already have a special date and time in mind - their first date, first kiss, or engagement date. But most will base their date on the availability of their wedding location site.

Start Researching on the Web for Some Potential Wedding Locations

Start calling around and make appointments to visit some wedding locations. Ask to see if your date is available and how many guests they are able to accommodate. This is where your wedding guest list will come in handy.

Certain wedding locations may only be able to accommodate a certain number of guests. Don't waste time looking at a location if it is only able to accommodate 50 people when you want 100.

You might want to start early on this since some popular wedding locations can get booked pretty quickly. Especially during the most requested months: June - October and depending on the season of the location.

Research on Hiring a Wedding Professional

If you are still stressing out about your wedding consider hiring a wedding planner. This is what they do for a living. They have the connections and will do all the detail planning so you don't have to worry. They'll normally charge 15-20% of the total cost of your wedding.

If you prefer to do it yourself, then just take your time and prioritize off your "Wedding To Do List."

As you work your way down the list, you'll start to realize that everything will just naturally fall into place and things eventually get done.

So relax and just start off with the above wedding planning ideas and tips and you'll be on your way to having the perfect wedding!
