Bridal Airbrush Makeup
Read this Wedding Makeup Advice Before You Decide

Find out why this professional makeup artist would not recommend bridal airbrush makeup for brides on their big day.

When I was searching for a wedding makeup artist, I wanted someone who was able to do bridal airbrush makeup.

I had interviewed several makeup artists and a few highly recommended it.

They said that airbrush makeup would lasts longer and would look better in pictures than regular makeup.

I'm a makeup virgin, so I was trusting that these artists knew what they were talking about.

But then, after talking to Sherrie Long, a professional makeup artist who has been in the industry for over 20 years, I reconsidered.

So before you consider airbrushing, read what Sherrie has to say about it, and why she would not recommend airbrush makeup for brides on their wedding day.

"I personally do airbrushing and would not recommend airbrushing for a wedding.

It is a myth that airbrushing lasts longer and looks better in pictures.

I have been airbrushing for 15 years and I always find it so funny some people lead brides to believe it is better.

The tool does look pretty cool and high tech, but in all honesty it has been around since the 70's (artists 1st began using it on Planet of the Apes because they had so many extras they had to do fast).

I don't recommend it because the makeup has to be diluted with alcohol to go through the compressor, which can dry the skin.

As makeup artists, we use airbrushes on set (on photo shoots or movies) if we need a quick application, body makeup, or special effect makeup.

I would never use it for something as detailed as a bride, because the makeup gets sprayed on, so it justs sits on top of the skin, where as with a liquid foundation, you can blend it to make it look like it is skin (hope this makes sense).

We also, with liquid foundation, can make it last all day (this is something I specialize in) by using sealers to waterproof everything.

Overall, you will get different opinions from everyone.

I find though that most artists who airbrush brides have to say it is better because that is how they make their living.

I have studied a lot on airbrushing and like it as a tool, but would only use it for a special occasion if I felt it 100% necessary, and in most cases you have more detail, more control, by using our hands than a tool."
